Comet, a horse highly valued in Poland and noted for great trotting action. It was fortunate that his quality was recognized early as he died in 1964 at age 11, leaving behind only 86 foals (a number which includes the in utero exports to various countries). Eleven of his get imported to the US or Canada have captured 25 National honors, most in the Park division, and include *Meczet who has National Championships in Formal Driving, Formal Combination, Park and Costume.
Some of Comet´s daughters include Warmia (dam of US National Champion Mare *Wizja), Engracia (dam of European Champion Engano), Eunice (dam of Polish National Champion Stallion *Eukaliptus and the sires Euben and *Eunizar) and Arba (dam of European Champion Stallion Arbor and Arra who not only won the Triple Crown of Derby, Oaks and Criterium but was Polish National Champion Mare and European National Champion Mare). Comet´s son Grojec was a popular in England while Pohaniec has widespread influence in Sweden.
Comet is considered the most important post-war stallion in Poland. Bred by Nowy Dwór stud, his daughters left an indelible mark in Polish breeding that remains today. Of his sons, the sire line was very successfully re-introduced through the lease of his grandson *Probat from Sweden. Noted for producing beauty, type, & action. 16 of his sons were imported to the US.

Bred by Crabbet Arabian Stud, Sussex, England. Imported from England to United States of America in 1932 by Roger A. Selby, Portsmouth, Ohio. Sire of one hundred twenty-three registered purebred Arabian foals. (Raffles was a gift from Lady Wentworth to the Selby children, as he was believed to be sterile). In 1937, at age 11, he was brought back to fertility by the Selby Stud Manager, Jimmy Dean and his wife, Thelma, primarily through exercise. In 1949, when he was 23, Raffles was nearly lost to the breed when he broke a hind leg above the hock. Jimmy Dean and his son, Pete, rigged a special sling that supported the stallion enough to let the leg heal. The prepotency of the Raffles type (Ali Pasha Sherif type - classy, bold motion, density of bone and stamina) fixed Arabian type for American breeders for generations. By 1981, 65 percent of the U.S. National Champions and Reserves had one or more crosses to Raffles.
Maranello was the 2008 Leading Juvenille Sire
"Maranello is an Arabian stallion, sired by Magnum Psyche and out of RD Bey Shahmpagne (x Bey Shah+)standing an amazing 16 hands, whose exotic beauty and structure, together with incomparable disposition, is being passed along consistently to his purebred and half-Arabian offspring. With his third foal crop on the ground, Maranello’s popularity and fan base continues to grow and spread across the US and Canada. Garnering Leading Juvenile Status in 2008, he is among the finest of Magnum’s sons and proving it where it counts, in the breeding barns across North America."

Bay El Beys impact was aptly described by film producer and Arabian owner Mike Nichols: Bay El Bey changed the Arabian horse in America and then in the rest of the world. He put on long, arched necks that are set on very high. His special combination of intelligence, disposition, size, motion, and type redefined the horses we are breeding. Through his three great sons, Huckleberry Bey, Bey Shah, and Barbary, three great horses who made very different contributions, Bay El Bey has created the Arabian of today. He is not gone and will never be forgotten.
